Scala is a Java-like language which runs on top of the Java Virtual Machine. Scala is a functional programming language with support for parallel programming, and Big Data Analysis with Apache Spark. Scala is closely related to Java and Groovy which offer interoperability. Scala also has web frameworks: Akka Concurrency Framework, Apache Spark, Play Framework, Scala Slick, Monix, Lift, and Lagom. Scala also has ScalaNLP, a framework for scientific computing, machine learning, and natural language processing.
